Avatar: The Way of Water is an upcoming science fiction movie directed by James Cameron, who is also the writer and producer of the film. It is the second installment in the Avatar franchise, following the 2009 blockbuster hit Avatar. The film is produced by 20th Century Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment and is set to be released on December 16, 2022. The story of Avatar: The Way of Water takes place several years after the events of the first movie, where the human protagonist Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) has become the leader of the Na'vi clan on the planet Pandora.
